Discussion Cues for Kate Buffett and the Deep Blue Sea – Chapter 3

1.  Did you notice a connection between the rain storm the night before the hike and the avalanche? Why did it rain in town but snow so hard on Monkey Mountain?

2.  Why do you think Emily had the girls bring attention to themselves in the way she did when the wolf was nearby?

3.  In Kate and Kristy’s town, Crescent Creek flows into the Salt Creek River, and the river flows into the ocean. Where does natural water or the run-off from rain or snow go  in your town? Is there any way it could connect all the way to the ocean?

4. Did you watch the film, “Snowball Saves the Sea?” If not, take a moment to watch it now. That film by a real life Blue Life Super Hero, Julia, inspired this chapter. Why do you think that seeing the plastic water bottle in the snow made Kate want to suddenly give Kristy her birthday surprise?
