We Started with a Journal. Why?
By writing down our intentions and planning to make daily, small choices that are good for the planet can help build habits that will carry young people toward being ECO stewards for life. In addition, by guiding the journal practice with cues and inviting reflection each evening, it’s easy to discover how amazing and “blue” we can create our day.
BUT – kids in the age 9-13 group need some context for a “blue life” habit.
For that reason, we created a fiction chapter book to go along with the 28-day journal practice. The book is full of characters. Some might seem just like the reader or be a character they’d like to have as a friend.
The fiction story, The Hunt to Save the Ocean, begins in the book and continues in real time communities. Most chapters are inspired by real life kids.

Connecting many families committing to small actions to generate hope and solutions
We all know that recycling can never catch up with or solve the problem of plastics in our environment, especially in the Ocean. Every day, each one of us makes choices about what we do, how we act and our impact on the world.
What if we began each day by taking a few minutes to commit to at least one “Blue Life” choice. What if we chose a different sort of single-use plastic to avoid, or supported the “green” or “Blue Life” efforts of others? The book, The Quest for Blue Planet Super Heroes which includes a 4-week guided journal writing experience, Blue Life Journal, not only provides cues and inspiration for a mindful journal-practice, it also is FULL of ideas, action items AND the first two chapters of a book, Kate Buffett and the Deep Blue Sea. That book is continued here on this website.
During our first year, we will be meeting with people of all ages and all walks of life – why? Individuals, businesses, schools and a diverse array of special interest groups need the Blue Life Journal now. We want to make it the best it can be. So we are connecting with hundreds of Blue Life Journal-writers and gathering their input.
We are creating an opportunity to sponsor a grade 4-7 classroom for businesses and non-profits seeking to expand their current ECO positive actions.
We have a full Blue Life for Schools curriculum for grades 4-8 (some 3rd grade students can enjoy it, you know your students best) Contact us for your FREE program (Year One only). Be the pioneer educators!
