Blue Life Connections grew organically when founder, Judy Shasek, was developing the distribution and marketing strategy for her Blue Life Journal for Kids project. “I realized that daily journal writing is a powerful practice – but sharing daily choices and actions is more fun – and more empowering.” Young people love games and adventures. For that reason a “chapter book” featuring kids, community and insights on the power of plastic awareness is included with the journal.
There is so much great work being done by thousands of foundations, non-profits, groups and clubs. Within each of those organizations are individuals – each with the power to do their part – big or small – to make a difference. Alone or separate our efforts are important – but together our efforts can create a huge groundswell of change for the Oceans. The BLUE LIFE CONNECTIONS community on Facebook, on the BLUE LIFE CONNECTIONS website is designed to include and support you and what you do – one “blue life” action at a time.
Blue Life Connections brings a different perspective and is built upon Shasek’s vast experience. “I am not an expert, but my forte is connecting with the best. Sharing through innovation, seeking inspiration and telling the stories is a process that has supported any success that’s come my way over the decades.”
Judy Shasek writes, hikes, paddles and plays outside daily. She is the founder of Water Words and author of the blog, Elder SUP. Shasek is inspired by this quote, “The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” (LINKED IN Profile).
As an author, teacher and simply crazy about being outdoors via sailing, skiing, swimming, surfing, hiking and SUP, Shasek seeks water based adventures as often as possible, mostly while on her Starboard standup paddleboards being propelled by her KIALOA paddles.
Shasek has an extensive background in fitness, business and program development, education and curriculum development, the Games for Health and social media realm. She has led workshops at dozens of education, technology, wellness and fitness conferences around the country.
She created ExerWellness, ExerLearning and Play4School embedding activity into the learning process for grades K-12. Those programs were recognized globally. That same commitment to quality, design and business culture based in passion for what is created is what drew Shasek to the Starboard brand and the work of Svein Rasmussen and Starboard Blue.
